Offensive Onslaught Leads Falcons Past Eagles

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – On Friday afternoon, the Messiah University used a strong offensive performance to defeat the Eagles of Eastern University, 15-6. The Falcons started the scoring with three runs in the top of the first, but the Eagles answered with a run to put the score at 3-1 through the first. The Falcons scored a run in the second, but the Eagles answered again with two runs to cut the Falcons lead to one. The Falcons then scored six runs in the third with the Eagles only scoring one to put the score at 10-4 through three innings. The Falcons scored a run in the fifth and the Eagles score two to put the score at 11-6. The Falcons scored the remaining four runs to earn the 15-6 win. Matt Luchovick led the Falcons with three hits, including two solo home runs. Cristian Reyna totaled three hits and two RBIs. Landon Mark and Isaiah Parido each added two hits and three RBIs.
 
Up next, the Falcons host the Eagles of Eastern University for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 17 starting at 12:00 p.m.

The Falcons looked to get on the board first in the top of the first. With one out Cristian Reyna singled, and Drew Hurst reached on a hit by pitch. Landon Mark then hit a three-run home run to left center to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead.
 
The Eagles answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the first to cut the Falcons lead to 3-1.
 
The Falcons added a run on a solo home run from Matt Luchovick to push their lead back to three.
 
The Eagles answered again with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to cut the Falcons lead to one headed into the third.
 
The Falcons looked to keep the offense going in the top of the third. Drew Hurst led off the inning with a double to right. After a ground out moved Hurst to third, Carter Reid hit an RBI single to give the Falcons a 5-3 lead. After a flyout, Matt Luchovick hit a double to left to put runners on second and third with two outs. David Martinez then ripped a two-RBI double to center to give the Falcons a 7-3 lead. Kyler Parks then hit an RBI double to give the Falcons a five-run lead. After a walk from Isaiah Parido, Cristian Reyna capped off the Falcons scoring in the inning with a two-RBI triple to center to give the Falcons a 10-3 lead headed into the bottom of the third.
 
After a scoreless fourth, the Falcons looked to add to their lead in the top of the fifth. David Martinez led off the inning with a single. Kyler Parks moved Martinez to second on a sac bunt and then advanced to third on an error by the Eagles pitcher. Isaiah Parido then hit a sacrifice fly to left field to extend the Falcons lead to 11-4.
 
The Eagles then responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Falcons lead to 11-6 headed into the sixth.
 
After a scoreless sixth, the Falcons looked to again add to their lead in the top of the seventh. Matt Luchovick led off the inning with his second solo home run of the day to push the Falcons lead to seven. After a hit by pitch and a fielder's choice, Isaiah Parido hit a two-run home run to give the Falcons a commanding 14-6 lead. The Falcons added another run on fielder's choice by Carter Reid to give the Falcons a 15-6 lead through the top of the seventh.
 
The Falcons bullpen shut down the Eagles offense after the fifth inning, with Trey Daugherty, Trey Harper, John Ott, and Kevin Pickard each having scoreless outings to give the Falcons the 15-6 win.

Matt Luchovick led the Falcons with three hits, including two solo home runs. Cristian Reyna totaled three hits and two RBIs. Landon Mark and Isaiah Parido each added two hits and three RBIs. Drew Hurst, David Martinez, and Kyler Parks each tallied two hits. Carter Reid added a hit and two RBIs. Trey Harper earned the win on the mound for the Falcons with 1.2 scoreless innings out of the pen. Trey Daugherty, John Ott, and Kevin Pickard each threw scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Falcons to close the game.
