READING, Pa. – The Messiah Softball team closed out the regular season earlier today with a doubleheader at Alvernia. In game one, the Falcons started strong with five runs in the first inning to take the early lead. The pitching settled into the game with three and a half scoreless innings before Alvernia scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Falcons lead to four. After a scoreless sixth, the Falcons added two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-1 lead.
Fallon Feaser finished off her complete game with a scoreless seventh to give the Falcons the 7-1 win.
Rebekah Wiley led the Falcons with two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.
Fallon Feaser and
Lucy Murphy each totaled two hits and an RBI. Feaser also pitched a complete game on the mound, allowing one run on seven hits, with four strikeouts. In game two, the Falcons took an early lead after five runs in the first two innings. After the Golden Wolves cut the lead to one run, at 5-4, but the Falcons responded with four runs in the fourth to regain the big lead. The Falcons added seven more runs in the sixth to secure a 16-4 win in a run-shortened game.
Fallon Feaser had four hits and four RBIs, while
Allie Book added four hits with one RBI.
Brielle Rosario added three hits with two RBIs.
Up next, the Falcons will be back in action when they host the MAC Commonwealth Championship tournament beginning on Thursday, Apr. 30.
Game One: Messiah – 7, Alvernia – 1
The Falcons looked to set the tone for the game in the top of the first.
Brielle Rosario led off the game with a single through the left side. After Rosario stole second,
Lucy Murphy hit an RBI single through the right side to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Fallon Feaser then singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. After a fly out, Feaser and Murphy stole second and third.
Rebekah Wiley then hit a three-run home run to left to push the Falcons lead to 4-0. The Falcons looked to continued adding runs in the inning with
Josi Tolentino reaching on an error by the Golden Wolves short stop. After
Ashley Bryant moved Tolentino to second on a sacrifice bunt,
McKenna Bunting hit an RBI single up the middle to push the Falcons lead to 5-0 headed into the bottom of the first.
After the Falcons five-run first, the pitching for both teams settled into the game.
Fallon Feaser opened the game cruising through four innings to keep the score at 5-0.
The Golden Wolves though got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single to cut the Falcons lead to 5-1 headed into the bottom of the fifth.
After a scoreless sixth, the Falcons looked to add some insurance runs in the top of the seventh. After a ground out,
Lucy Murphy hit an infield single to short. Falcon Feaser then brought home the pinch runner,
Mia Libby with an RBI triple to right center to push the Falcons lead back to five.
Allie Book then hit a sacrifice fly to center to give the Falcons a 7-1 lead headed into the final frame.
Feaser then finished her complete game in the bottom of the seventh with a scoreless inning to give the Falcons the 7-1 win. With the win, the Falcons now will host the MAC Commonwealth Tournament that starts on Thursday, April 30.

The Falcons looked to once again start the strong in game two.

Fallon Feaser hit an RBI single to right to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Allie Book then hit a double to center to put runners on second and third with one out. After a strikeout,
Josi Tolentino scored the two runs on an error by the Golden Wolves to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead headed into the bottom of the first.
The Golden Wolves answered the Falcons three-run innings with an RBI double to cut the Falcons lead to 3-1 headed into the second inning.
The Falcons offense looked to continue the momentum at the plate in the top of the second. After a ground out to start the inning,
Brielle Rosario hit a double to left.
Lucy Murphy then singled to left to put runners on the corners with one out.
Fallon Feaser then hit a two-RBI single to left to give the Falcons a 5-1 lead headed into the bottom of the second.
After a scoreless third for the Falcons at the plate, the Golden Wolves got on the board with three runs on three hits.
Brielle Rosario led off the fourth with a single and a stolen base.
Lucy Murphy reached base on a fielder's choice and advanced to second.
Fallon Feaser sent a two-RBI single to center field to make it 7-4, Messiah.
Allie Book doubled to score Feaser and was then pinch ran for by
Mia Libby, who scored on a
Josi Tolentino hit to center field.
There were no runs scored in the fifth for either side.
Fallon Feaser singled to lead off the sixth and
Allie Book reached on a bunt single to third. Book was out at second on a fielder's choice from
Rebekah Wiley, who stole second to move into scoring position.
Josi Tolentino doubled to score both runners and then came around to score herself on an RBI-double from
Ashley Bryant to make it 12-4.
McKenna Bunting and
Asia Harding each singled to load the bases for
Brielle Rosario, who sent an RBI-double to left field to score two runs.
Lucy Murphy followed with an RBI-single and
Fallon Feaser got a final run home on a sacrifice fly to make 16-4.
Kelli Durbin then pitched a final scoreless frame to close out the win.
