2026 MAC Commonwealth Baseball Tournament Preview

GRANTHAM, Pa – The Messiah University Baseball team earned the top-seed in the 2026 MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The Falcons host the fourth-seeded Spartans of York College in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal Series starting on Friday, May 1 at 3:30 p.m. The two teams will play game two and game three (if necessary) on Saturday, May 2 starting at 12:00 p.m.
 
The second-seeded Pride of Widener University host the third-seeded Blazers of Hood College in the other semifinal series.
 
The winner of the two series will play in the Championship series next weekend at the highest seed remaining.
 
Fans should note that since this is a Middle Atlantic Conference Postseason Tournament, tickets are required for all fans. The pricing for tickets are as follows: Adults: $10, Seniors (65+) and Youth (7-17):  $5, and MAC Students with their student ID and Children under six: Free.

No. 1 Messiah University Falcons
28-11 Overall Record, 19-2 MAC Commonwealth

The Falcons enter the MAC Commonwealth Tournament with a 28-11 overall record with a 19-2 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The Falcons this season went 9-9 in non-conference games, playing a very difficult schedule with eight games against ranked opponents. The Falcons rolled in conference play with a 19-2 record with their only losses coming against Albright and Widener. The Falcons have been dominant at home with a 17-2 record at Houck Field this season.
 
The Falcons have been great at the plate all season, leading the MAC Commonwealth in batting average (.315), hits (397), doubles (82), triples (15), home runs (50), RBIs (323), runs scored (363), slugging percentage (.523), and on-base percentage (.435). The Falcons offense has yet to be shutout this season, with 9.2 runs scored per game. The Falcons pitching staff also ranks atop the conference with a 4.21 ERA, five shutouts, and a .241 batting average against. The Falcons also rank third in the conference with 260 strikeouts.

No. 4 York College Spartans

The Spartans enter the MAC Commonwealth Tournament with an 18-20 overall record with a 10-11 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The Spartans finished the season with an 8-9 record in non-conference play with seven games coming against ranked teams. The Spartans finished the season strong with a series win over Stevenson to earn the fourth seed in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The Spartans struggled on the road with an 8-16 record in away games this season.
 
The Spartans offense ranks third with 368 hits on the season and fifth with a .295 batting average but rank last in the conference with 217 runs. The Spartans though bring pop in their bats with the second-most total bases and second ranked slugging percentage in the conference. The Falcons swept the Spartans this season, out scoring them 32-8. The Falcons opened the series with a 7-1 win in game one. The Falcons completed the sweep with an 11-2 win in game two and a 14-5 win in game three.
 

No. 2 Widener University Pride
20-18 Overall Record, 13-8 MAC Commonwealth

The Pride enter the MAC Commonwealth Tournament with a 20-18 overall record and a 13-8 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride went 7-10 in non-conference play. The Pride turned the season around in conference play with series wins against Albright, Alvernia, Hood, and York. The Pride are 9-8 on the road this season.
 
The Prides offense ranks third with 32 home runs, a .448 slugging percentage, and 10 triples on the season. The Pride's offense ranks sixth in the conference with a .293 batting average and fifth with 236 runs scored. The Falcons won the series 2-1 against the Pride. The Falcons won game one 18-4 but fell in game two 7-3. The Falcons won the series with a 14-10 win in game three.
 

No. 3 Hood College Blazers
16-23 Overall Record, 10-11 MAC Commonwealth

The Blazers enter the MAC Commonwealth Tournament with a 16-23 overall record and a 10-11 record in conference play. The Blazers finished non-conference play with a 6-12 record. The Blazers earned the third seed in the MAC Commonwealth tournament with series wins against Alvernia, Eastern, Stevenson, and York. The Blazers come into the tournament with losses in seven of their last eight games.
 
The Blazers' offense ranks last with a .252 batting average, 310 hits, 11 home runs, and a .362 on-base percentage. The Blazers pitching staff ranks seventh with a 7.45 ERA. The Blazers though rank fifth in the conference with 232 strikeouts.
