INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Monday morning, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the field for the 2026 Division III Softball Tournament. The Messiah University softball team will travel to Swarthmore, Pa. for the Regional hosted by Swarthmore College.
The Falcons will open the double-elimination regional against the Garnet of Swarthmore College on Thursday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. The Case Western Reserve and Muskingum game will follow at 1:30 p.m. The winners of both games will play at 11:00 a.m. with the losers playing at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15.
Messiah earned their spot in the NCAA Tournament after earning their second straight MAC Commonwealth Championship after battling back to take down York in two games on championship Saturday. The championship is the 13th in program history and the Falcons will be making their 15th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The Falcons enter the tournament with a 29-15 overall record, with a 13-1 record in MAC Commonwealth play.
Swarthmore earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Centennial Conference with a 12-1 win in Game Seven over Haverford. The Garnet enter the tournament with a 33-8 overall record and 15-1 record in Centennial play. The Falcons and Garnet will meet in the Regional Tournament for the second year in a row.
Case Western Reserve made the NCAA Tournament after claiming the University Athletic Association Championship against Carnegie Mellon. The Spartans enter the tournament with a 27-12 overall record and 12-6 record in the UAA.
Muskingum earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after falling to Heidelberg in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. The Fighting Muskies enter the Tournament with a 29-10 overall record, and a 12-4 record in the OAC.
