GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah Women's Lacrosse team finished as the 2026 MAC Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse Runner-Up after dropping Saturday's Championship game against York College.
Brynn Johnsen tallied a pair of goals with
Hayley Lettinga,
Annalise Keitel, and
Grace Pettitt all adding one.
Hannah Gawne collected four draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Johnsen added three draw controls, two caused turnovers, and three ground balls.

First Quarter
The Spartans earned an early free position attempt, but
Grace Hejeebu made the save in goal for Messiah.
Hannah Gawne and
Brynn Johnsen each fired shots on goal, but the York goalie made a pair of saves. York then found the back of the next at 10:16 to take a 1-0 lead. The Spartans tallied a free position goal with just under six minutes to play to extend their lead to 2-0. After Gawne had a shot saved,
Annalise Keitel tallied a free position goal to cut the deficit to one. York added a goal to take a 3-1 lead.
Second Quarter
Action was slow to start in the second quarter before
Annalise Keitel found
Brynn Johnsen to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of York. Over the next four minutes,
Dani Sauder and
Hayley Lettinga each had shots saved as
Grace Hejeebu picked up a pair of saves in goal for the Falcons. York then tallied three goals in three minutes to extend their lead to 6-2 with 6:11 to play in the second.

Grace Hejeebu made a late save to keep the score at 6-2 into the break.
Third Quarter
Hannah Gawne had a shot on goal saved early in the third before
Grace Hejeebu made a pair of saves. After much of the third quarter continued to be a possession battle,
Hayley Lettinga fired a shot on goal in a late man-down situation to bring the score to 6-3 in favor of York with one quarter remaining.
Fourth Quarter
The Spartans fired the first shots of the fourth quarter, with
Grace Hejeebu making a save before
Brynn Johnsen had a shot on goal saved. With 10 minutes to play, the Spartans tallied five goals over the next seven minutes to take an 11-3 lead with 3:08 to play. With under a minute to play,
Grace Pettitt tallied a man-up goal before finding
Brynn Johnsen to cut the final score to 11-5 in favor of York.
