Men's Tennis Takes Down Dickinson for First Time in Over 15 Years

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah Men's Tennis team opened the Fall slate of their season today at home against Dickinson, where the Falcons took down the Red Devils for the first time in over 15 years. The Falcons took two of the three doubles courts to win the doubles point, before taking three of six singles courts to win the match, 4-3.
 
Up next, the Falcons are back in action at the University of Scranton on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1:00 p.m.
 
Doubles
Xane Whitesel and Micah Batson started doubles with a 6-2 win on court three. Brady Hahn and Lance Wilson then took court one, 6-3, to earn the doubles point for the Falcons. To end doubles, Timothy Sheaffer and Daniel Wenger fell in a close match on court two, 5-7.
 
Singles
In singles, Lance Wilson fell on court two in two sets (4-6, 2-6). Brady Hahn then fell in three sets on court one (6-3, 1-6, 1-6). Next, Elijah Noll fell on court three in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 2-6), with the Red Devils only needing one more court to win the match. Timothy Sheaffer won on court four in two sets (6-0, 6-3), keeping the Falcons alive in the match. Next, Daniel Wenger took court five in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 6-4) to tie the overall score at three courts each. Finally, Micah Batson completed the comeback with a three-set win on court six (4-6, 7-5, 6-4).
