The Top 50 Athletes in Messiah History
In celebration of 50 years of Messiah University Athletics, we invite you to vote for the Top 50 athletes in Falcons history!
The survey below contains over 125 Messiah University student-athletes. Most of the names are those of alumni; a handful are current students.
It’s important to note that, because of the overwhelming number of outstanding student-athletes in Falcons history, we had to create qualifications to be considered for “Top 50” status.
To be included in the survey, a student-athlete must have at least one of the following criteria:
• All-American status in his/her sport
• National Player of the Year in his/her sport
• #1 all-time statistical leader at Messiah University in his/her sport
• Current member of the Messiah University Athletics Hall of Honor
If a person meets at least one of these criteria, they are listed in the “Top 50” survey. Now, since they are listed, other career notes are listed including All-Conference awards, career statistics, and statistical categories in which they are in the top 10 for Messiah University.
Now, please note: Messiah University has a tremendous athletic history, with long-standing legacies of excellence and supremacy across many sports and many decades. Determining a list of “Top 50” is as much a humbling task as anything else. We trust that our efforts will be a cause of celebration and reflection of the thousands of individuals—student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and community supporters, that have contributed to the success of the Falcons.
We know, too, that there is a possibility that we may have missed a statistic, year, or accomplishment in our research. If you have any questions on the information listed, or you believe there is an error, please do not hesitate to contact Assistant Athletics Director Steve King at sking@messiah.edu!
Write-In Votes: If you believe there is someone in the history of the Falcons that should be a “Top 50” member, even though they do not meet one of the criteria outlined above, feel free to send a write-in vote to Steve King. Include as much information as you can about the student-athlete, including name, year of graduation, sport(s) played, accomplishments, and the reason you believe they should be in the Top 50!
One last thing! The survey will not count for you, so you may want to keep track of how many selections you've made!
