Messiah University Men's Basketball - Developmental Schedule

Messiah University Athletics - Developmental Game Philosophy

Developmental games are scheduled to provide younger student-athletes the opportunities to both gain competitive experience and improve their skills. The Falcons believe these games provide an essential experience to aid in player development. Student-athletes that play in Developmental Games are not considered "JV" members of a program; rather, they are active members of the NCAA varsity roster that may not get as much playing time at the varsity level as their peers.

For Messiah University men's basketball, Developmental Games are an extension of a "One team with one heart beat" mantra. While the Developmental Games will include mainly first-year and sophomore players, those players are not treated any differently than those that play the bulk of the varsity game minutes. The same expectations for attitude, coachability, work ethic, and time commitment are established for all players, regardless of if they're playing in Developmental Games or not. All players dress and travel for every varsity game (home or away).
