Steven Ridings enters his first year as a graduate assistant for the men's baseball team in the fall of 2022, but second season with the team. Ridings brings a wealth of experience to Messiah as well.

The 2021-2022 season marked Ridings’ first year as Messiah University's pitching coach for the baseball program.  Ridings returns to his alma mater after graduating in 2016 with a B.A. in Sport Management.   
 
Ridings is a current professional baseball player for the Gateway Grizzlies. He is entering his 6th year in professional baseball as a starting pitcher.  After graduating from Messiah, he was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 29th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. While with Seattle, Ridings played for every affiliate up through Triple A -Tacoma Rainiers. Over the last three years, he played for the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League.
 
While at Messiah, Ridings was a four-year conference starter. On the mound, he compiled 270 innings in 39 starts, 14 complete games, 243 strikeouts, and a 2.80 earned run average. During his senior year, Ridings earned MAC Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-MAC, and First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region. 
 
Ridings is originally from Harwood, Md.; and currently resides in York Haven, Pa. with his wife, Julia.
