Danae Hollenbach enters her 13th year as assistant coach for Messiah University in 2024. A 2006 graduate of Messiah, Danae (Chambers) was a star player for Messiah's field hockey team from 2001-2005.

A native of Elkton, Md., Danae was the Commonwealth Conference's Rookie of the Year in 2001, was a four-time First Team All-Commonwealth selection, and was named the Commonwealth Player of the Year in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Her teams won the conference championship in all four of her years.

Nationally, Danae and the Falcons experienced unprecedented success. She was the program's first-ever NFHCA National Player of the Year in 2004, and was also the program's first-ever four-time First Team All-American. Her teams made three "Final Four" appearances and twice finished as the National Runner-Up. In her senior year, Danae was nominated for the Honda-Broderick Division III Field Hockey Award and was also selected for Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd."

She graduated as the NCAA's all-time leader in career points (297) -- a record that stood until 2011.

Danae's return to the Messiah sideline comes after serving as varsity head coach at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Md.

Currently, Danae and her husband Tyler-- also a Messiah graduate-- reside in nearby Mechanicsburg, Pa. with their daughter Taylor and son Jackson.
