Jerry Standford joins the Falcons' coaching staff as an assistant coach for the second-straight season in 2020 after holding the position of the head coach for Messiah from 1997-2005.

During the fall of 1996, he was hired as the first head coach for the Messiah men’s lacrosse program prior to the first varsity season in the spring of 1997. In his nine years as head coach at Messiah for nine years, Standford collected an 89-46 record including a 46-14 MAC Conference record. Standford was named MAC Coach of the Year three times. Through his years at the helm, Standford coached a total of 47 All-MAC selections including seven USILA All-Americans. He captured two MAC Championships and appeared in two NCAA Tournaments (2001, 2004). His last two years (2004, 2005) at Messiah was his best finishes as the Falcons ended with 13 wins, the highest wins in the program so far.

While at Messiah, Standford was also the Head Boys’ Varsity Coach for two years at Watertown Immaculate Heart Central.

Coach Standford is originally from Syracuse, N.Y. and played lacrosse at Onondoga Community College before graduating from Messiah College in 1995 with a degree in Sports & Exercise Science. Upon graduating, he was hired as an assistant to Bob Bartels during the Messiah men’s lacrosse position’s transition from club to varsity status in Division III.

Jerry and his wife Tammie have five children: Allie, Kyla, Samantha, Josh, and Mathew.
