Mike Kovacs enters his fifth year as the men's and women's tennis assistant coach at Messiah in 2021-22. A Messiah graduate himself, Kovacs helped lead the men's tennis program to back-to-back MAC Commonwealth Titles in 2014 and 2015.
As mentioned above, Kovacs played in his junior and senior years for the Falcons and was successful, compiling a career singles record of 12-6 overall and 8-0 in conference. In doubles, he set career marks of 13-20 overall and 7-5 in the MAC Commonwealth. Kovacs was a main contributor in two NCAA Tournament appearances, as the men's team won the MAC Commonwealth Championship in 2014 and 2015. Kovacs was widely known as having an impeccable backhand to dominate opponents.
Kovacs got his first win as a coach on September 4, 2021 when he coached the men's tennis team to a 5-4 win over the Scranton Royals.
Originally from Red Lion, PA, Kovacs graduated from Messiah in 2015 with a Bachelors degree in Christian Ministry. He and his wife Danielle currently reside in Gettysburg, Pa.
