Brad Brubaker returns to Messiah University's softball coaching staff for the 2025 season, having previously served as an assistant coach in Grantham from 2017 to 2019. During his earlier tenure, he oversaw the outfield and slappers, contributing to the Falcons’ 80-48 overall record, the 2018 Commonwealth Conference championship, and two NCAA Division III tournament appearances.
Â
Entering his 17th year of collegiate coaching, Brubaker has developed two All-Americans, eight NFCA All-Region players, and 21 All-Conference honorees. Most recently, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lancaster Catholic High School, where the Crusaders went 25-16 and made consecutive PIAA District 3 Class AAA tournament appearances.
Â
From 2019 to 2022, Brubaker was head coach at Franklin and Marshall College, where he became just the third coach in program history to post winning records in each of his first two seasons. His tenure culminated in a 24-24 overall record and a runner-up finish in the 2021 Centennial Conference. He coached F&M’s first-ever All-American in softball, outfielder Jamie Belfer, who earned multiple accolades, including First Team Academic All-American and First Team All-Region honors. At F&M, he coached two first team All Region and four All Centennial Conference student-athletes.
Â
Brubaker also served as head coach at Lancaster Bible College from 2013 to 2016, departing as the program's all-time leader in wins. His LBC teams earned numerous awards, including the school's first NFCA All-Northeast Region selection and a NCCAA First Team All-American.
Â
In his first stint at Messiah, Brubaker made an immediate impact. All three starting outfielders earned Commonwealth Conference honors, with the outfield unit achieving a .964 fielding percentage. Under his guidance, freshman slapper Samantha Esper won the 2017 Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year, while in 2018, Haylee Anders was named FPN Division III National Player of the Week.
Â
Brubaker’s coaching career began at Elizabethtown College, his alma mater, where he spent eight seasons as lead assistant. There, he helped guide the Blue Jays to three postseason appearances, coaching three Regional All-Americans and five All-Conference outfielder selections.
Â
His high school coaching success includes leading both Columbia High School and Lancaster Mennonite High School to postseason play. He also has a strong Junior Olympic travel team background, winning seven tournament titles and 22 top three finishes over a five-year span.
Â
Brubaker resides in Lancaster and holds a degree in business administration from Elizabethtown College.
