Dana Randall

  • Title
    P/T Assistant Coach
  • Alma Mater
    Messiah '94

Dana Randall is back for her 14th season with the Messiah program in 2022-23.

A four-year third baseman for the Falcons, Randall played her freshman year of college ball with head coach Amy Weaver, striking a friendship that has spanned more than 20 years.

After spending nine years coaching both youth and recreational softball, Randall, whose maiden name is Jenkins, is now making a difference at the college level.

Weaver is thrilled to have one of her good friends coaching alongside her: "Dana has always had a great knowledge of the game. She coached at the youth and travel ball level for many years and we have been happy to have her share her wealth of knowledge at the collegiate level as well. Dana continues to do an excellent job with baserunning and outfield."

A .345 hitter as a senior at Messiah, Randall helped lead the Falcons to the program’s first NCAA Regional appearance in her final season, belting 19 RBI. Since then, Randall has spent nine years coaching both the Maryland Express Lightning — a 12 and under travel team out of Frederick, Maryland — as well as the Thurmont Dynamite, a recreational club out of the same area.

Randall will focus on outfield and baserunning skills and strategy, while also assisting with hitting technique and in-game strategy.

“Dana has already influenced so many young players through her coaching over the last several years,” Weaver said. “I admire anyone who loves the game and kids and who gives back to the game and youngsters like that."

Originally from Thurmont, Md., Randall currently serves as a vaccine lab research associate at the Fort Detrick Military Base in Frederick, focusing on HIV and AIDS research. A biology major at Messiah, Randall married her husband, Mike, in the summer of 1995.

The couple have two children, Macy and Gage, and reside in Thurmont, Maryland.
