Messiah's All-Time Conference Honors

Annville, PA – The Commonwealth Conference released the season awards for women's soccer on Tuesday, with Messiah's Nikki Elsaesser and Alicia Frey leading 10 honors for the Falcons. Elsaesser was named the Offensive Player of the Year while Frey took home the Defensive Player of the Year award.* Head coach Scott Frey was also named the Commonwealth's Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.

Elsaesser and Frey were joined on the First Team by defender Ali Rogers. Ashley Locke and Corinne Wulf took home Second Team honors while teammates Audra Larson, Emily Schneider, Macaulay Soto, and Hannah Weyland were each named Honorable Mention.

Elsaesser leads the Falcons in goals (17) and points (38) and was second in the Commonwealth in conference-only games with 19 points (8g, 3a). She was also a First Team honoree from her rookie campaign in 2012.

Frey earned the Defensive Player of the Year award as a midfielder. Once again, she has proven to be one of the most dynamic and versatile players in the country as she's solidified a Falcons' midfield that has contributed to 51-5 advantage in goals scored. This is her third-straight All-Commonwealth honor following her 2010 Rookie of the Year recognition.

Rogers' conference honor is her first and, like Frey, comes less than a week after she was named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team. Her stellar work in the backfield has contributed greatly to Messiah's NCAA No. 3-ranked 0.260 goals against average (GAA) and NCAA No. 4-ranked 0.789 shutout percentage.

Ashley Locke also earns the first All-Commonwealth award of her career and, like Rogers, has stood out in the conference and region for her defensive work. Corinne Wulf earns her third career All-Commonwealth award with an impressive bounce-back year after missing the last 24 games of the 2012 season with an injury. She is currently Messiah's second-leading scorer with six goals and five assists. Like Frey, she is also a former Rookie of the Year (2009).

Audra Larson collects the Honorable Mention nod after earning Second Team honors last season. She's played every minute for the Falcons and has registered a Commonwealth-best 0.11 GAA in nine conference games.

Forward Emily Scheider (5a, 4a), midfielder Macaulay Soto (5g, 5a), and defender Hannah Weyland all joined Larson as Honorable Mention for the first Commonwealth honor of their careers.

As mentioned, Scott Frey's Coach of the Year award is the third of his career (2000, 2007) and comes after the Falcons completed an 11th-consecutive undefeated conference regular-season; Messiah's regular-season win streak against league foes now sits at 94 games.

Arcadia's Lennon Kramer took home Rookie of the Year honors for the Commonwealth after posting 16 goals and four assists for the Knights. Eight of her goals came against conference opponents.

Below is a listing of the entire All-Commonwealth selections for women's soccer.

*Note: Starting in 2013 the Commonwealth Conference recognizes both an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year for soccer. Neither award is assigned to a specific position on the field (i.e., a midfielder can be named either the Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year).
