Falcons Charge Over Lancaster Bible in Season-Opener

Grantham, PA - The Messiah College men's basketball team opened the season at home against Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons cruised to a 92-66 victory over the visiting Chargers. Lead by four double-figure scorers, the Falcons shot 55.4% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc.
 
Zac Hoy led all scorers with 19 points on 4-7 shooting and 9-12 from the free-throw line.
 
The Falcons went up early and never looked back. After scoring the first seven points of the game, the Falcons grew their lead to as many as 16 points late in the first-half before leading 47-33 at the break.
 
In the second-half, the Falcons held a double-digit lead for the entirety of the period. Five minutes into the second-half, Josh Clippinger scored the most emphatic points of the game, when he split two defenders and went down the lane for a two-handed slam. The dunk accounted for two of Clippinger's 12 points on the afternoon.
 
The Falcons went on to win by a final score of 92-66.
 
In his first game as a Falcon, Luke Cable made the first five three pointers he attempted en route to a 5-7 shooting performance including 5-6 from downtown.
 
Geoff Boyle collected a double-double, with 17 points and 11 rebounds. He was the only Falcons to collect double-digit rebounds on the afternoon.
 
The Falcons will next take the court on Friday Nov. 21-22 when they host the John Jay, Eastern Mennonite and DeSales in the TownePlace Suites Tip-Off Tournament. The Falcons play John Jay on Friday at 8:00 p.m. in Brubaker Autorium.
