No. 18 Falcons Score Early to Shutout Lions

Reading, PA – No. 18 Messiah College traveled to Albright on Friday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 win. The victory pushed the Falcons to 11-5 overall, including 6-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.

The game was in Messiah's favor for most of the afternoon, and they broke the scoreless tie in the 20th minute off the stick of Lindsay Bower. The tally was her third of the season, and her first since a game-winner against Juniata on Sept. 16.

Bower's goal started a 10-minute stretch that saw Messiah build their 3-0 lead. In the 26th minute Kezia Loht found Carissa Gehman for Gehman's team-leading 11th goal of the season, and minutes later Kaylor Rosenberry set up the first career tally for Karalyn Schmidt.

The Falcons put nine shots on goal in the first half, and they finished with 11 shots on goal overall. Shelby Landes made six saves on nine total shots by the Lions to help Messiah pick up their third-straight shutout.

Messiah is now 8-0-1 in their past nine games. The win against Albright also guaranteed them the No. 1 seed in MAC Commonwealth Tournament that starts in 10 days.

The Falcons have just one conference match left; they next play at home against Hood College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
