Gwynedd Mercy, PA - The Falcons of Messiah College defeated the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy Univeristy by a 7-6 score. Goals for the Falcons came from Blake Knobloch (4), Justin Bradley (1), Ryan Van Bochoven (1), and Tyler Goglio (1).

The Falcons struck first in the game with a goal from Tyler Goglio, assisted by Drew Pagenkopf. With time running down in the first quarter, Nico Belardo scored for the Griffins with one second remaining and tied the score at one at the end of the quarter.
 
The Griffins capitalized on a man-up opportunity early in the second quarter with a goal from Tony McCraw. Next, Messiah's Blake Knobloch took matters into his own hands and score back-to-back goals in a span of two minutes to give the Falcons a 3-2 lead heading into halftime.
 
The Griffins came out and played with intensity, scoring two unanswered goals to pull ahead 4-3. The Falcons responded with three straight goals from Blake Knobloch, Justin Bradley, and Ryan Van Bochoven to end the third quarter.
 
Leading 6-4, Blake Knobloch scored his fourth goal of the game in the fourth quarter and extended the Falcons lead to 7-4.
 
The Griffins battled back with goals from Blase Cesarone and Alfonso Manzo and tightened the score to 7-6 in favor of the Falcons. Messiah played tough defense for the last 30 seconds of the game and came out victorious.

Statistically, the Falcons led in saves (13-8), faceoffs (9-7) and tied the Griffins in groundballs (18).
 
With the victory Messiah improves to 3-3 overall and still 0-1 in the Commonwealth. The Falcons will next play this Wednesday when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan College at 7 p.m.
