Falcons Race Away, Win Over Crusaders

Selinsgrove, PA – Messiah College outscored a talented Susquehanna University 4-0 in the second-half on Wednesday to earn a big win on the road, 7-3. Justin Bradley and Blake Knobloch each scored two goals to lead the Falcons.

The win moved Messiah to 5-3 while the Crusaders fell to 7-2.

Messiah's dominating second-half performance was fueled by a tremendous defensive effort. The visitors relented just nine total shots in the second-half to Susquehanna, and Susquehanna collected just four groundballs in the final two periods.

Susquehanna's 13 total groundballs was the lowest allowed by Messiah this season.

The 3-3 halftime tie was broken by Tyler Goglio with 4:49 left on the clock. Though it was the only goal scored by either team that quarter, it proved momentous. Knobloch scored early in the fourth quarter to extend the lead, and Bradley added his goals at the 8:48 and 0:31 marks, respectively, to seal the win.

All of the Falcons' second-half goals were unassisted.

The stalwart second-half effort by Messiah was even more impressive considering Susquehanna rallied with two goals in the final 93 seconds of the first-half to tie the game. With all the momentum on their side, the Falcons' stingy defense proved to be enough of an answer.

Chris Ruger and Brady Marburger each collected a team-high five groundballs, while goalies Brooks Arnold and Sam Stengel each collected five saves in split duty.

The Falcons will next play on Wednesday, Apr. 1 when they travel to Hood College for a 3:30 p.m. game. That will start a stretch of seven-straight Commonwealth Conference games to end the regular-season.
