Reading, PA - Messiah College scored 12 of the game's first 15 goals and never looked back in a 15-5 win over Albright College on Wednesday night.
Carly Bajus and
Madi Brunk each scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead the Falcons' attack.
Claire Stikeleather added two goals and and a helper, and seven other Falcons tallied a single goal. Messiah also held the Lions to just 10 shots.
The win pushed Messiah to 9-4 overall, including 5-0 in the Commonwealth. Albright fell to 8-5, and 2-3 in the conference.
Stikeleather started the Falcons' scoring in the fourth minute off a feed from
Madi Brunk, and her teammates followed with three more tallies to build an early lead. After Albright's Erin Farrell ended the shutout, the Falcons scored eight of the next 10 goals to go up big. They led 12-3 at the half.
In the second-half Bajus and
Marybeth Bindel scored quickly to make it 14-3, and Messiah dominated the rest of the way en route to the win.
The Falcons held the Lions to just 6-16 on clears, a big factor in Messiah's stronghold on possession and territory.
Messiah will next play on Saturday when they host Widener at 1:00 p.m.
