Williamsport, PA - The Falcons of Messiah College had a dominating second half and earned a 16-5 victory over the Warriors of Lycoming College on Wednesday afternoon. Messiah held a 7-5 lead after the first half of play and cruised to the victory after outscoring Lycoming 9-0 in the second half.
Blake Knobloch led the Falcons in scoring with four goals and
Trey Hanshew had an excellent offensive performance with three scores.
Early on, Lycoming dictated the tempo of the game by tallying the first two scores from Peter Pluta and Travis Rode for a 2-0 lead. Messiah responded with 3:49 remaining in the first quarter when
Blake Knobloch scored one of his four goals in the contest.
Pluta added another goal for the Warriors, but Messiah answered by notching the final two goals of the starting quarter to tie the score at three.
Messiah with Lycoming still hanging around in the game controlled the second quarter of play. Tim Breau scored the first goal of the quarter and gave Lycoming the 4-3 advantage.
Next, the Falcons earned their first lead of the contest with a four goal scoring streak.
Trey Hanshew,
Blake Knobloch (2), and
Isaac Zorn executed scores during the streak. The first half of play ended with Lycoming getting back on the scoreboard and Messiah held a 7-5 lead.
As mentioned, the second half of the game was completely dominated by Messiah as they outscored Lycoming 9-0. Scorers during the second half for Messiah included

Statistically, Messiah controlled categories such as shots (42-21), shots on goal (28-12), groundballs (29-19), and committed fewer turnovers (12-16).
Messiah evens their record to 5-5 and 1-1 in the MAC Commonwealth with the victory. The Falcons will be back in action Apr. 13 when they take on the Blazers of Hood College at 4:00 p.m. in Grantham, Pa.
