Sareyka Leads Falcons to Tip-Off Title

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Colin Sareyka dropped a career-high 38 points against the Ursinus Bears in the TownePlace Suites Tip-Off Tournament Championship Game, leading the Falcons to the 79-69 victory on Saturday afternoon. Messiah led by as many as 14 points early in the second-half before coasting to the 10-point victory.
 
As a team, Messiah shot 41.4% (29-of-70) from the field and 35.7% (10-of-28) from deep. Zach McDonough collected 12 points for the second game in a row with Josh Darville collecting a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. 

The Falcons are now 2-0 on the season and will play at Lancaster Bible College on Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
 
From Start to Finish
Colin Sareyka started the day off with back-to-back three-pointers for the Falcons, giving Messiah an early 6-0 lead before advancing to an 11-2 lead. Ursinus made a push to change things around, pulling within six points but the Falcons continued to pour it on as Sareyka sunk another three to give Messiah a 19-10 lead. The Bears answered back, forcing their way back into the game with back-to-back layups and a three-pointer that gave them a two point lead with the score set at 21-19. The offensive charge from the Bears forced Messiah to take a timeout but Ursinus would hold the lead for the next three minutes until Sareyka struck from beyond the arc again to give Messiah the 27-26 advantage. From there, the Falcons went on an 8-0 run, taking a 35-26 lead. The charge was highlighted by steals from Josh Darville and Colin Sareyka before the first half ended with a 42-33 lead.

The second half started out much like the first, this time, Matt Glogowski sunk the three-pointer to start the scoring for the Falcons. Messiah maintained steady possession of the lead, leading by as much as 12 points in a seven minute stretch. The Ursinus Bears weren't done yet though as they got things rolling with 10 minutes to play to pull within one of the Falcons to make it a 62-61 game. The Falcons quickly answered back with a 6-2 run with points from McDonough, Sareyka, and Glogowski but the Bears were relentless and took a one-point lead again after sinking a three-pointer. Messiah closed out the game from here with an 11-0 run that saw points from Sareyka, Darville, and Glogowski.

The Falcons collected 49 rebounds (15 off., 34 def.) and recorded 10 steals with Matt Glogowski (3) and Josh Darville (3) combing for six total.

As mentioned, Messiah will travel to Lancaster, Pa. to take on the Lancaster Bible Chargers on Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. On Nov. 16 & 17, Messiah will be in Virginia at the Virginia Wesleyan Tip-Off Tournament.
