Erin Cressman started off the inning with a home run to left center and then
Isabel Seise hit a double to keep the inning going with a double and after a couple hitters reached by way of fielder's choice, LaVerne made an error with the bases loaded to allow
Ashley Carroll to score. The Falcons added a couple more runs in the fifth when
Amber Bingaman doubled and stole second to start the inning. Cressman drew a walk and after
Madelyn Yannetti was retired,
Isabel Seise hit a single to score Bingaman. Later with two outs,
Samantha Esper reached on an error by the third base and Cressman was able to score on the play giving Messiah a 4-1 lead.
The Falcons added one more run in the sixth when
Amber Bingaman homered to left field and solid defense the rest of the game earned them the win.
Game Two: Messiah 4, LaVerne 2
Messiah scored first in this game putting up three runs in the top of the second as
Haylee Anders hit a bases clearing double to right center to take an early 3-0 lead. LaVerne responded by scoring two in the bottom of the inning but pitcher
Joy Kolakowski was able to work her way out of the jam. The Falcons added one more run in the third as
Lynsey Quinn came through with an RBI single. Leading 4-2, both teams had opportunities to score but it turned out to be a rather defensive game and that certianly worked in Messiah's favor as they held that lead and went on to win.
