READING, Pa. - On a warm Saturday afternoon, the Messiah College men's tennis team swept Albright 9-0 on the road. The Falcons remain undefeated within the MAC Commonwealth conference (4-0) and moved to 4-7 overall.
Messiah dominated in doubles play and went 3-0. No. 2 doubles,
Alex Mantsevich and
Andrew Bookman, and no. 3 doubles,
Galen Fitzkee and
Keller Martin, both swept their opponents 8-0.
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal (no. 1) picked up an 8-1 win over the Lions.
In singles action, the Falcons secured a commanding 6-0 victory over Albright.
Galen Fitzkee (no. 3) got things started for Messiah with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over his opponent.
Andrew Bookman (no. 4) and
Tim Dunn (no. 1) weren't far behind him as they both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-1.
Bryson Boettger (no. 6) also picked up a lopsided win (6-1, 6-1) for Messiah. No. 2 singles,
Connor Graybeal won his first set 6-2, but fell 4-6 in the second set. Graybeal went on and won the deciding set 10-2 to give Messiah a clean sweep.
The Falcons will hit the courts on Wednesday, Apr. 18 when they host Lycoming College at 3:30 p.m.
