GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College men's tennis team remained undefeated (5-0) in conference play after they defeated the Lycoming Warriors 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons picked up their fifth-straight win and improved to 5-7 overall.
The Falcons took care of business and collected a 3-0 sweep in doubles play.
Alex Mantsevich and
Andrew Bookman (no. 2 doubles) and
Galen Fitzkee and
Keller Martin (no. 3 doubles) started off strong and defeated their opponents 8-0. No. 1 doubles
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal only dropped one set and defeated the Warriors 8-1.
Bryson Boettger got things started for the Falcons in singles play and swept Nick Meek 6-0, 6-0.
Galen Fitzkee and
Andrew Bookman were close behind and both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-2.
Tim Dunn defeated the Warriors' number one singles player 6-1, 6-2, while
Alex Mantsevich secured a 6-2, 6-3 win.
Connor Graybeal dropped his first set 6-2 but fought back to win the second set 6-3. Graybeal was unable to hold on and fell in the deciding set 10-5.
Messiah will remain on their home court and will host Eastern University on Thursday, Apr. 19 at 3:00 p.m.
