GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College men's tennis team finished their regular season by sweeping Alvernia 9-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons finished conference play undefeated (7-0) and have secured the no. 1-seed heading into the MAC Commonwealth semifinals on Wednesday, May 2nd.
No. 3 doubles
Galen Fitzkee and
Keller Martin started things off for the Falcons by defeating their opponents 8-0. Seniors
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal (no. 1 doubles) were close behind and picked up a lop-sided 8-1 victory.
Alex Mantsevich and
Andrew Bookman were tested but were able to pull out an 8-4 win over the Golden Wolves.
In singles action, Messiah soared to a 6-0 sweep.
Bryson Boettger and
Alex Mantsevich didn't allow their opponents to win a game and picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories to get the Falcons going.
Galen Fitzkee (6-0, 6-1) and
Andrew Bookman (6-1, 6-0) had incredible performances and they each only dropped one game to the Golden Wolves.
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal finished the sweep off by picking up 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 wins, respectively.
Messiah will host the MAC Commonwealth semifinal on Wednesday, May 2nd. The time and opponent have yet to be determined, they will be playing the no. 4-seed in the tournament. Continue to check
