GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Messiah men's tennis team opened the 2018-19 season with a trip to Gettysburg to take on the Bullets. Messiah dropped their season opener 9-0 to the Bullets and will be back in action next Saturday when they host the University of Scranton at 9:30 a.m.
Gettysburg jumped out to a quick start by winning all three doubles matches by scores of 8-1. The Bullets would go on to claim all six singles matches to complete the 9-0 sweep of the Falcons. Jarod Snader put up the strongest test by a Falcon in singles play, winning the only Messiah set on the day.
The freshman won his first set 6-4 before dropping the second set 6-3. Gettysburg's Zach LaChance claimed the tiebreaking set 10-7 to claim the match 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
At #2 singles,
Andrew Bookman won a total of seven games, falling 6-4, 6-3 to the Bullets' Kevin Maier.
As mentioned, the Falcons will host the University of Scranton next Saturday on the newly renovated Criste Courts at 9:30 a.m.
