Messiah Goes Down Against Bethany and F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. - Messiah battled through both matches today but fell 3-1 against Bethany and 3-1 against Franklin & Marshall. Against Bethany, Messiah took the first set but struggled to maintain momentum through the last three sets. Against Franklin and Marshall, Messiah dropped the first set but charged back with a 25-22 win in the second set but that would be their only win against F&M. 

Match One: Bethany Defeats Messiah 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-13, 25-23)

Messiah took the first set in a close battle 26-24 but eventually lost to Bethany College 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-13, 25-23). The Falcons' attack was led by Natalie Marsch, who registered 11 kills, with teammate Kate Preudhomme following closely behind with nine of her own. Mary Underman collected eight kills with just two errors, giving her a .273 hitting percentage. Messiah had four Falcons accumulate double-digit digs, including Amanda Dahlman (28), Jessica Zellers (16), Natalie Marsch (14), and Katie Wilcox (12).

Match Two: Franklin & Marshall Defeats Messiah 3-1 (25-11, 22-25, 25-9, 25-15)

The Falcons' attack was led by Payton Manwaring and Lanae Hunsberger, who collected nine and seven kills respectively. Kate Preudhomme, Jessica Zellers, and Mary Underman all registered a service ace of their own. Katie Wilcox assisted on 18 kills and collected 13 digs. Amanda Dahlman led the defense with 26 digs while Kate Preudhomme accumulated 10 as well.

What's Up Next
The Falcons will return to Jordan Court on Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on Lycoming College in their fifth conference game of the season.
