NEW YORK, NY. - The Falcons finished in second-place as a team out of 24 teams at the NYC Division III Invitational at the Armory. Messiah set three new program records with stellar performances from
Ellissa Slader,
Esther Seeland, and the 4x400m relay team.Â
On The Track
Kiera Wells and
Ellie Longshaw competed in the 60m dash, running 8.52 and 8.67, respectively.Â
Kathryn Wiederrecht put up strong performances in the 60m hurdles and the 200m. In the hurdles, K. Wiederrecht finished in 11th-place with a time of 9.90, good for ninth all-time in program history. K. Wiederrecht led the Falcons in the 200m, running a 27.33 to take 13th-place. Also in the 200m,
Kelsie Kennedy followed closely behind, running a 27.44 to take 17th-place.
Ellie Longshaw came through the line in 28.22 to take 40th-place.Â
Ellissa Slader set a new program record in the 400m, taking first-place in the meet with a 58.95. Slader's time is a 1.36 second personal best and beats a time of 59.42, set in 2006 by Rachel Hepkins.
Taylor Wiederrecht (1:00.32) and
Rebecca Crosley (1:02.12) also showed well in the 400m, taking third-place and eighth-place, respectively.Â
Esther Seeland bettered her own school record previously set last week, running a 2:14.63 to take first-place in the meet. Seeland's time is 2.30 seconds faster than her previous time and puts her eighth in Division III.
Leanne Weaver finished in second-place in the 800m, running a 2:18.19.
Brieanna Hess (2:30.32) and
Madison Myers (2:30.51) also competed the 800m, taking 26th-place and 27th-place, with Hess edging out Myers.Â
In the mile,
Maddison Landis ran her way to second all-time in program history with a 5:11.34, good for fifth at the meet.
Mikayla Lewin (5:39.56),
Emma Fertig (5:44.74), and
Sarah Blessing (5:59.63) also competed in the mile, all running sub-six minutes.
Danielle Cardone led the way for Messiah in the 3,000m run, finishing in 21st-place with an 11:28.60.
Elise Davenport followed Cardone closely, taking 22nd-place with time of 11:31.60.
Ally Austen rounded out the Falcons' efforts, coming through the line in 11:38.56 to take 24th-place.Â
In the 5,000m,
Sarah Codd finished first for the Falcons, running through the finish line in 18:45.34 to secure an eighth-place finish.
Cera Gaston came through the line in 19:23.03 to take 15th-palce.Â
The Field Events
Taylor Wiederrecht led the way for Messiah in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.65m to take fourth.
Emily Gourley cleared 1.40m and finished in 16th-place overall.Â
Alyssa McMinn led the Falcons' efforts in the throws with two top-five finishes. McMinn threw 12.03m in the shot put to take second-place and wrapped up the day with a 13.58m throw in the weight to take fifth-place.

What's Next
The Falcons will stay a little closer to home as they travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. for their next meet at Susquehanna University on Feb. 16. This will be the Falcons last opportunity to qualify for the MAC Indoor Championships.
