Seeland And Slader Lead The Way At Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Falcons had a handful of athletes compete at the Penn State Tune-Up and had two program records broken on the day. Esther Seeland broke her own 800m record, running a 2:11.70 and Ellissa Slader beat her own record in the 400m, running a 58.51.

Ellissa Slader and Taylor Wiederrecht took eighth and ninth place in the 200m. Slader came through the finish line in 26.36 seconds while Wiederrecht went around the track in 26.39 seconds. Slader also competed in the 400m and didn't disappoint as she broke her own record by nearly half a second, running a 58.51. Slader's time was good for eighth-place on the day. Wiederrecht ran a lifetime personal best in the 60m hurdles, coming through the finish line in 9.38 seconds to take second-place. Wiederrecht also competed in the high jump, clearing her first four bars on her first try and clearing 1.66m on her third attempt to finish in second-place. 

Esther Seeland broke the women's 800m record for the third time this season, running a 2:11.70. Seeland's time unofficially places her fourth in the nation, pending results from the rest of the day. Seeland opened up her record-setting race with a 31.65 second split. Her 400m split was 1:05.17 and she was at 1:39.30 with 200m to go. Seeland kicked in the last 200m, running a 32.41 second split to beat her record by nearly three seconds. 

Maddison Landis led the way for Messiah in the women's mile, coming through the line in 5:13.12, good for 11th-place. Sarah Codd took 15th-place overall, running the mile in 5:27.24 while Esther Seeland finished in 18th-place, coming across the finish in 5:38.85. 

On the men's side, Tyler McFeaters highlighted the Falcons' performance in the mile, running a 4:19.65 to take ninth-place. Benjamin Schott (4:21.78), Alex Scheib (4:26.99), and Zachary Lofties (4:39.78) followed closely behind, taking 11th-place, 12th-place, and 14th-place, respectively.

Schott and Lofties also competed in the 3,000m run with Schott running a 8:52.43 to finish in seventh-place. Kyler Shea came through the line moments behind Schott, running a 8:54.63 to take 10th-place. Nate Romberger came through the line in just under nine minutes, running a 8:58.71, good for 12th-place. 

What's Up Next
The Falcons will compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Feb. 22-23 at Lehigh University.
