Falcons Fall To Stevens And NYU

PLANT CITY, Fl. - After holding leads against both Stevens and NYU, the Falcons fell after late comebacks by both teams. Against Stevens, the Falcons scored runs in the top of the third inning while holding the Ducks scoreless through the first four innings. Stevens scored three in the bottom of the fifth that would prove to be the deciding factor as the Falcons couldn't comeback in the last two innings, falling to the Ducks 3-2. 

Messiah tallied the first run against the Violets in their second game of the day, scoring one in the second inning. NYU answered back in the top of the third to tie that game 1-1 but Messiah took the lead for the second time in the game with RBI single from Rianna Trexler to make it 2-1. The Violets responded with three runs in the top of the fourth that would end the scoring for the game and give NYU the 4-2 victory over Messiah.

Stevens Defeats Messiah 3-2
Both teams had their chances in the first two innings as Messiah and Stevens left one runner on in each inning without bringing them home. Messiah took the lead in the top of the third after Ashley Carroll came across home plate with an RBI sacrifice groundout from Haylee Anders. Moments later, Rianna Trexler hit a sacrifice fly to center field that brought Erin Cressman through, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead over the Ducks.

Both teams were held scoreless through the top of the fifth with Stevens opening things up in the bottom of the fifth. The Ducks started the inning a single from Melissa Alfonso which was fola walk, putting two runners on base with no outs. The bases were loaded after another walk and the Ducks capitalzied on an RBI sacrifice fly, and RBI single, and a RBI ground out to record three runs to take a 3-2 lead over Messiah.

McKenzie Tebbs hit a double in the top of the sixth with one out but was left stranded after a strikeout and a groundout to third base. Messiah held the Ducks scoreless in the bottom of the sixth but couldn't find the equalizer in the top of the seventh, finishing the game on three strikeouts, falling to the Ducks 3-2. 

Joy Kolakowski pitched all six innings for the Falcons, recording three strikeouts through 21 at bats. Erin Cressman, McKenzie Tebbs, Jaelynn Harbold, and Ashley Carroll led the Falcons' offense today, all recording one hit against Stevens. 

NYU Defeats Messiah 4-2
The Falcons struck first in their second game against the Violets, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning after McKenzie Tebbs hit a triple and later reached home after Sam Fouracre reached first by error. The Violets responded with a run of their own in the top of the third inning. An error by the Falcons put a runner on first who later advanced to third after a groundout and a single. With two outs, an RBI single brought the running through, tying the game at 1-1.

Erin Cressman got the hitting started for the Falcons in top of the fourth, hitting a single. Later, Cressman advanced to second on an error by the second basemen as Ashley Carroll reached on fielder's choice. Rianna Trexler hit an RBI single to bring Cressman home but Trexler and Carroll were left on base after two Falcons grounded out, ending the inning 2-1 in Messiah's favor. 

NYU didn't wait long to respond, equalizing the game on a throwing error in the top of the fourth. The Violets kept things going with two RBI singles to take a 4-2 lead over the Falcons. 

The Falcons left one runner on in the bottom of the fifth and another one in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Violets the 4-2 victory of Messiah. 

Madelynn Yannetti stayed in the circle for all seven innings for the Falcons, recording three strikeouts through 31 batters. McKenzie Tebbs led the way offensively for the Falcons, going 2-3 from the plate while bringing in one run.

The Falcons are back in action tomorrow at 11:00am against Babson College and again at 1:15pm against Oswego State.
