Falcons Drop Two On The Road Against Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Falcons dropped two games to the Dickinson Red Devils on the road and are now 16-18 on the season. Messiah struck first in game one, taking a 1-0 lead after Jaelynn Harbold brought home Isabel Seise with an RBI sacrifice fly to left field. 

In game two, the Falcons fell behind early as Dickinson tallied five goals in the bottom of the first inning. Messiah attempted a late comeback with three runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh but fell short as the Red Devils won 5-4.

Dickinson Defeats Messiah 3-1
In game one, both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings. Both teams had their chances to score as Messiah left two runners on base through the three innings and Dickinson left four on base. 

Messiah got on the scoreboard first after Isabel Seise tripled to right field to get on base. Jaelynn Harbold brought her home with an RBI sacrifice fly to left field that gave Messiah a 1-0 lead. 

Dickinson didn't respond until the fifth inning but managed to rally with two outs. Their first run was the result of an error by the Falcons that brought in the equalizer. The Red Devils kept the momentum going, scoring two off of a fielder's choice ball to take a 3-1 lead and the eventual victory over the Falcons. 

Messiah tried to battle back in the top of the seventh inning. Jaelynn Harbold started the inning off with a single but the next two batters for the Falcons popped up, giving Messiah two outs with a runner on first. Madelyn Yannetti hit a single to advance Harbold over but a line out to left field ended the Falcons rally attempt as they fell 3-1 to Dickinson.

Dickinson Defeats Messiah 5-4
After the Falcons left two runners on base in the top of the first, the Red Devils went on a big 5-0 run in the bottom half of the inning. Dickinson started with a walk to get a runner on base. The Falcons struck out the next batter but the Red Devils rolled with it, getting a runner to reach on a fielder's choice, putting runners on first and second. Dickinson single to center to bring in their first run of the game. In the next at bat, the Red Devils struck again off of a fielder's choice ball to take a 2-0 lead. After another strikeout, the Red Devils hit a double to center field that brought home three runs and gave Dickinson a 5-0 run. 

Dickinson held the Falcons hitless from the second inning through the fourth. Messiah tried to gain some traction in the fifth inning with Amanda Petersen hitting a single to right field but she was left stranded and the game moved to the bottom of the fifth. The Red Devils attempted to add to their lead but Messiah fought to leave two runners on and keep the score 5-0.

The Falcons went on a two-out rally in the top of the sixth after Kara Birosak struck out and Isabel Seise popped up to the short stop. Jaelynn Harbold singled to center field to bring in the Falcons' first run of the game. Rianna Trexler followed in pursuit with a single to left field that brought in their second run of the day. Elena Rosas kept the scoring going with a singel to center field that made it 5-3 in favor of the Red Devils.

In the top of the seventh, Ashley Carroll reached first on an error and advanced all the way to third. Kara Birosak singled to center field to bring her home but the Falcons' comeback came up short as they fell to the Red Devils 5-4.

Messiah is now 16-18 on the season and has one last conference doubleheader against the Albright Lions on Apr. 27 at 2:00pm.
