GRANTHAM, Pa. - Messiah College men's tennis hosted Arcadia Knights in a MAC Commonwealth battle on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons claimed the match 5-4 and remain undefeated (2-0) in the conference. The Falcons won two out of the three matches in doubles play and secured three singles matches to defeat the Knights.
How It Happened
Messiah and Arcadia battled hard in doubles action.
Galen Fitzkee and
Andrew Bookman secured the Falcons' first win at the top spot after they defeated their opponents 8-4. No. 3 doubles,
AJ Swanson and
Jarod Snader went into a tie-break set and came out on top 8-7 (7-1).
The Falcons and Knights split in singles play.
Jarod Snader started things off for Messiah with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ryan Stellato, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win from No. 2
Andrew Bookman.
Galen Fitzkee secured the final singles win for Messiah. Fitzkee won the first set 6-3, however dropped set two 2-6. He bounced back and swept through the third set 6-0 to claim Messiah's fifth and final point of the afternoon.
Messiah will return to the court on Monday, Apr. 8 when they host Ursinus College at 4:00 p.m.
