GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah women's tennis team dropped to 1-3 Saturday afternoon as they lost 9-0 against the visiting York College Spartans. The Falcons fought hard against the Spartans, but weren't able to pick up any match wins. At No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, Messiah lost 8-5 and 8-6 respectively. However, the duos of
Rebekah Adams and
Kasi Conjack on court one and
Sarah Fleming and
Angela Tozzi on court three played well.
In singles,
Rebekah Adams and
Rachel Dougherty fought hard, as they both took a combined six games, but weren't able to pick up the victory. They will be back in action when they host Alvernia University on Wednesday, Apr. 14 at 3:00 p.m. on Criste Courts.
Doubles Play
As mentioned, Messiah fell into a 3-0 hole after doubles play. Messiah won a combined 11 games on the first and third courts, but weren't able to come away with the match victories.
Singles Play
Messiah struggled in singles, as they weren't able to claim any sets. However, they did claim several games. As mentioned,
Rebekah Adams and
Rachel Dougherty both claimed six games while
Kasi Conjack won four and
Rebekah Sheaffer three.
