Women's Tennis Cruises By Hood

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah women's tennis team defeated the Hood College Blazers Saturday afternoon at home on Criste Courts. Messiah was led by Rebekah Adams, Rachel Marcroft, and Rebekah Sheaffer, who all won both their singles and doubles matches. This win improves Messiah to 2-6 overall on the season and was their first MAC Commonwealth victory of their 2021 campaign.

Doubles Play
The Blazers forfeited court three to give Messiah a 1-0 lead before play started. Rachel Marcroft and Rebekah Sheaffer claimed court two by a score of 8-2 before they hung tough on court one, as the team of Kasi Conjack and Rebekah Adams won 8-6 to give Messiah a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Singles Play 
The Blazers forfeited courts five and six, so the Falcons claimed the 5-0 victory. Messiah took care of business on courts 2, 3, and 4. Adams, Marcroft, and Sheaffer only lost nine games combined in a trio of sweeps to give Messiah an 8-0 lead. Hood claimed court one to make it an 8-1 Falcon victory.

As mentioned, Messiah moves to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the MAC Commonwealth with the victory. They will be back in action for their final match of the regular season next Saturday when they host the Eastern University Eagles in Grantham with the match set to start at 1:00 p.m.
