NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their All-Region honorees for the 2021 Outdoor Track & Field season at the end of last week. Among the honorees, were nine Falcons with
Esther Seeland earning Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year.
The Messiah honorees were
Cassidy Chandler,
Brieanna Hess,
Esther Seeland,
Ellissa Slader,
Kathryn Wiederrecht,
Taylor Wiederrecht,
Brody Beiler,
Brendan Provan, and
Josiah Zehr. Among that crew, Seeland, Slader, Beiler, and both Wiederrechts earned multiple honors with Seeland earning four and Beiler claiming three to lead the way for the Falcons.
The honors were given to the top-five individuals in each event and all of the members of a top-three ranked relay team in each region.
Esther Seeland added another honor to her very full mantle with the Mideast Regional Track Athlete of the of the Year. She earned All-Region accolades in four different events with top marks in the region in the 400 Meter (55.30) and 800 Meter (2:03.25) and the second-best mark in the 1500 Meter (4:27.39). She was also part of the Falcons' 4x400 Meter Relay team at the MAC Championships who's time of 3:58.20 earned them All-Region honors.
Joining Seeland with All-Region honors from that 4x400 Meter Relay was
Cassidy Chandler,
Brieanna Hess, and
Ellissa Slader. In addition to her contributions to the 4x400 Meter Relay, Slader also earned All-Region honors on her own in the 400 Meter with a time of 56.79
Kathryn Wiederrecht picked up a pair of All-Region honors with her times in the 100 Meter and 200 Meter. She turned in times of 12.55 and 25.51 in the 100 Meter and 200 Meter, respectively to pick up her All-Region honors.
Taylor Wiederrecht also earned a pair of regional accolades with top-three marks in the High Jump and Heptathlon. She scored 4,062 points at the MAC Championships in the Heptathlon and jumped a height of 1.68 meters in the High Jump at the Hopkins Charm City Invitational to earn her All-Region honors.
On the men's side, three Falcons picked up All-Region honors.
Brendan Provan picked up his honors in the Triple Jump with a distance of 14.46 meters at the York Twilight Meet. His mark was good for 20th in the country this season, just outside the National Qualifying distance.
Josiah Zehr cleared 4.58 meters in the Pole Vault at the MAC Championships to pick up his first-ever All-Region honor.
Brody Beiler claimed All-Region laurels in the 800 Meter, 1500 Meter, and 10,000 Meter. He qualified for the National Championships with a time of 1:51.45 in the 800 Meter, but also turned in times of 3:54.31 in the 1500 Meter and 31:18.06 in the 10,000 Meter to claim his trio of honors.
