OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The fifth-seeded Messiah women's tennis team knocked off the fourth-seeded Stevenson Mustangs in the MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon. Rebekah Adams and
Rachel Marcroft earned straight-set victories on courts two and three to clinch the match for the Falcons.
Messiah advances to take on the top-seeded York Spartans on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in York.
Doubles Play
As mentioned, Messiah swept doubles play over the Mustangs.
Rachel Marcroft and
Rebekah Sheaffer were the first ones to finish for the Falcons, earning an 8-4 win on court two.
Kasi Conjack and
Rebekah Adams then claimed court one 8-6 before
Sarah Fleming and
Angela Tozzi finished the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win on court three.
Singles Play
Messiah made quick work of the Mustangs during a pair of singles wins, only losing five games among the two matches.
Rachel Marcroft claimed court three first (6-2, 6-0) before
Rebekah Adams clinched the Falcon victory with a 6-3, 6-0 sweep on court two.
During the postseason, matches end after the fifth victory clinches the match so Messiah defeated the Mustangs 5-0.
