USTFCCCA Honors Messiah Teams and Handful of Individuals

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Late last week, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their Collegiate Academic Awards for the 2021 Track and Field season. Among the honorees were both the Messiah men's and women's track and field teams after holding team GPAs north of 3.10 across the entire year. Additionally, five individual Messiah student-athletes earned All-Academic honors after holding a GPA above 3.30 and was one of the top 50 individuals in their respective event this year. Esther Seeland, Taylor Wiederrecht, Brody Beiler, Brendan Provan, and Josiah Zehr picked up individual honors this spring.
 
As mentioned, both the Messiah men's and women's track and field teams earned collective team accolades with the men holding a 3.60 GPA this year and the women close behind with a 3.58 GPA as a program.
 
Individually, Esther Seeland and Brody Beiler headlined the list of five Messiah student-athletes that picked up accolades this spring after Seeland claimed her second National Championship in the 800 Meter and Beiler earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the same event. Seeland also turned in top-three times in the 400 Meter and 1500 Meter while Beiler owned the 39th-best time in the country in the 10000 Meter as well.
 
In addition to Seeland and Beiler's honors, three other Falcons earned honors. Brendan Provan had the 20th best distance in the triple jump and Josiah Zehr turned in the 44th highest mark in the pole vault this season to earn All-Academic honors on the men's side. For the women, Taylor Wiederrecht had the 19th-best mark in the high jump this season to claim her All-Academic honor.
