Aston, Pa - Messiah started off the day with a win against Cabrini University, winning 3-2 (24-26, 25-17, 25-15, 16-25, 15-6) but then lost to Neumann University early in the afternoon 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22).
Mackenzie Feight led the way with 15 kills in each match. The Falcons are back in action when they are hosting conference opponent York College of PA on Sept. 22 at 7:00 PM.
Match One - Messiah defeats Cabrini 3-2
Messiah started off the day with a five-set thriller, winning 3-2 (24-26, 25-17, 25-15, 16-25, 15-6) against Cabrini University. In the fifth set, Messiah jumped out to a 9-2 lead, and didn't look back on route to the 15-6 win in the final set.
Mackenzie Feight led the team in kills and digs, recording 15 and 21 respectively.
Rachel Rashford (13) and
Tatum Oakley (11) also contributed with a significant number of kills in the match.
Kristen Seibert had a team high 48 assists and tacked on three aces.
Amanda Dahlman and
Rachel Garratt combined for 30 digs,
Dahlman with 16.
Logan Wolfe added three blocks on the match.
Match Two – Neumann defeats Messiah 3-1
Messiah dropped their second match on the day, losing to Neumann University 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22). The Falcons only totaled 36 kills with
Mackenzie Feight again recording a team high 15 in the match.
Caitlin Lielbriedis had six kills in the match as well.
Kristen Seibert had a team high 26 assists as well as five service aces which was a match high.
Rachel Rashford tallied seven blocks in the match while
Amanda Dahlman and
Rachel Garratt tied for the team lead in digs with 16.
Accolades
Amanda Dahlman was named All-Tournament Team on the weekend for her efforts. On Friday and Saturday, she totaled 44 digs, three assists and one ace.
Up Next
The split brought Messiah's record to 7-4 at the conclusion of the afternoon. The Falcons face conference opponent York College of PA next Wednesday Sept. 22. The match will be held on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena and will start at 7:00PM.
