GRANTHAM, PA - The men's tennis team kicked off their season with a win Saturday afternoon, taking down Scranton 5-4. The Falcons were down 1-2 after doubles play getting a win at No. 2 doubles from
Connor Rose and
Chase Wilson. Messiah then got singles wins from No. 2

Chase Wilson, No. 4
Jonathan Baker and No. 6
Michael Niemi to claim their first win of the season.
Doubles
Messiah found themselves down after doubles play 2-1.
Connor Rose and
Chase Wilson had a dominant performance on court two doubles winning easily 8-1.
Jarod Snader and
Jonathan Baker lost on court one 8-4, while
Josh Gingerich and
Andrew Stapp lost on court three 8-5.
Singles
Chase Wilson made quick work of his opponent on court three, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Jarod Snader dropped court one to James Harrington 1-6, 1-6.
Messiah then got wins at courts three and four from
Connor Rose and
Jonathan Baker. Rose's match went the distance to a full third set, but Rose came out on top 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Baker won his match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Michael Niemi clinched the match at court six also winning in straight sets. Niemi cruised in the first set winning 6-0 but was down 1-4 in the second set. Niemi won the next five games to clinch the set and the match for the Falcons.
Michael Sell lost his match on court five 2-6, 3-6.

The men's teams moves to 1-0 on the brief fall season and will be in action in two weeks when they travel to Wilkes Barre, Pa. for the MAC Individuals Tournament.
