XML Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Messiah women's volleyball team topped Montclair State 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 25-18) but fell to Dickinson College 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20) Saturday afternoon at Gettysburg College. The Falcons are back in action on Wednesday Sept. 8 when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for their first conference match.
Match One – Messiah defeats Montclair State, 3-1
Messiah once again started the day off strong with a win against Montclair State 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 25-18). The Falcons recorded a season high 59 kills, 19 from
Mackenzie Feight.
Tatum Oakley,
Rachel Rashford and
Rachel Garratt each tallied 9 kills in the match.
The Falcons had 10 service aces on the day with
Hailey Miller serving four of them.
Kristen Seibert had team high 43 assists for the Falcons.
Amanda Dahlman led the team with 19 digs, while
Mackenzie Feight (16),
Rachel Garratt (14) and
Hailey Miller (13) all contributed significantly to the 63 team digs.
Logan Wolfe also recorded two solo blocks and two block assists on the day.
Match Two – Dickinson defeats Messiah, 3-0
Dickinson proved to be too much for the Falcons, beating them in straight sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20). The Falcons got 14 kills from
Mackenzie Feight and 11 from
Rachel Rashford, as the team only had 35 kills total.
Again, it was Seibert who had every single assist for Messiah at 31. This was the second straight day she had all the assists for the team. The team had 69 digs in the match, with Dahlman and
Amelia Montgomery recording 20 and 19 respectively.
Hailey Miller also had 17 digs on the night.
With the Saturday split, the Falcons record sits at 2-2
after splitting a pair of results on Friday night.
Accolades
Mackenzie Feight was named to the All-Tournament Team for her play in the four matches. Feight totaled 53 kills on the weekend to go along with 50 total digs.
