Annville, Pa. – The Messiah women's volleyball team swept the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen on Wednesday night, beating them 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20).
Mackenzie Feight led the way with 13 kills while
Amanda Dahlman had a team high 15 digs. Messiah is back in action this weekend when they host a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Messiah defeats LVC 3-0
In set one Messiah jumped out to an early lead to take command at 8-2. Lebanon Valley was able to chip away at that lead before scoring six straight points midway through the set. After the set was tied at 18, Messiah won seven straight points to win the first set 25-18.
The second and third sets were closely contested but Messiah pulled away late in each set. Messiah won five of the final six points to win the second set 25-18, while the third set saw the Falcons win nine of the last 11 points to claim the final set 25-20.
Stats
Mackenzie Feight led the team in kills with 13, while
Rachel Rashford (9) and
Caitlin Lielbriedis (7) added to the team total of 42 kills.
Messiah tallied nine service aces on the night, with Feight picking up three of them.
Kristen Seibert and
Amelia Montgomery chipped in with two aces each.
Rachel Rashford and
Caitlin Lielbriedis each totaled three blocks on the night as well.
Seibert also led the team in assists once again, this time with 31.
Amanda Dahlman and
Kristen Seibert had 15 and 12 digs respectively.

The win brings the Falcons to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in the MAC Commonwealth. The Falcons come home to Grantham this weekend, hosting their first home matches on the season. They will be playing a tri-match against Gettysburg College and the University of Lynchburg. The Falcons will face Gettysburg on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11:00am and Lynchburg at 3:00pm. Both matches will be played in Hitchcock Arena and will be livestreamed on gomessiah.tv
