ST. DAVID'S, PA - On an early Saturday morning, the Falcons picked up yet another conference win in a dominating effort against the Eastern Eagles winning 7-0. Messiah outshot Eastern 33-1 on a day where the Falcons commanded the entire game. Heltzel scored two goals on the afternoon while Smith picked up three assists.
The Falcons will travel to York College on Wednesday, October 12, for a conference tilt against the Spartans. That game is scheduled for 6:00PM in York, Pa.
Action
The Falcons completely dominated Eastern in the first half, outshooting the Eagles 19-0 with 15 of those shots on goal. Along with a 6-0 lead on penalty corners, Messiah suffocated Eastern and gave them no scoring opportunities. Out of those 15 shots on goal, only three found the back of the cage, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead going into the half.
Kelsey Heltzel got the Falcons on the board in the first quarter with her fourth goal of the year off a pass from
Ashlyn Smith. Later in the first,
Jenna Lutz struck for her first goal of the year with an assist from Smith once again.
Lindsay McFeaters also tacked on her first goal of the year to give the Falcons that 3-0 lead headed into the break.
The second half got off to a fast start for Messiah when Heltzel scored for her second goal of the game and
Mallory Kline added a goal to make the game 5-0.
Makayla Malcolm tacked on a goal on an assist from Smith to make the game 6-0 in a hurry. Messiah continued attacking and was able to add one more goal to finish the game with a win 7-0. The seventh goal of the day was scored by
Carrie Bair, her first of the season.

As mentioned prior, Messiah outshot Eastern 33-1 on the day and seven of those shots found the back of the net. 25 of those 33 shots were on goal as well as the Falcons continued to add to the pressure to the Eagles. Malcolm, Lutz, Kline, Heltzel (2), Bair and McFeaters all scored on the afternoon with Lutz, Bair and McFeaters scoring their first goals of the season. Also, while Ashlyn didn't find the back of the cage herself, she found her teammates three times for three assists in the game.

The win brings the Falcons record to 9-2 and a perfect 4-0 mark in the conference. They will travel to York, Pa to take on the Spartans for another conference matchup on Wednesday, October 12, at 6:00 PM.
