SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Messiah men's track and field team competed at the Susquehanna Invite at the Garrett Sports Complex Field House on Saturday. The team had several notable performances including a second-place finish in the 5000m from
Logan Horst (14:57.86), a fourth-place finish in the 1-mile from
Noah Calisti (4:32.03), and three top-10 finishes in the 3000m (
Josiah Moyer – 8:54.51,
Kyle Costello – 9:00.65,
Josiah McCarthy – 9:06.65).
60m
Brendan Provan competed in the 60m dash for the Falcons. Provan earned a finals-qualifying mark of 7.21s in the preliminary stage, finishing fourth overall.
Joshua Horst (7.67s) and
Ezra Lee (7.89s) also ran in the preliminary round for Messiah.
Provan issued a strong performance in the finals amongst strong competition, recording a mark of 7.25s. Provan recorded a seventh-place finish as Johns Hopkins' Conrad Say placed first, crossing the line in 6.98s.
60m Hurdles
Andrew Schott turned in a strong performance in the 60m hurdles preliminaries, earning a top-10 finish with a time of 8.99s. Schott ran in the fourth heat, topping all competition.
Aedan Wilkinson (9.80s) and
Gavin Dunkerton (9.98s) also represented the Falcons in the preliminary stage.
In the finals, Schott placed fifth overall with a time of 8.88s. Saint Francis' Ardonntrell Williams topped all competition with a winning mark of 8.10s.
200m
Representing Messiah in the 200m was
Aedan Wilkinson,
Zachary Mayro, and
Ezra Lee. Wilkinson turned in an impressive performance, registering a time of 24.01s, earning seventh-place overall out of a field of 55 runners. Mayro (25.01s) and Lee (26.51s) each performed in strong fashion as well.
400m
Ryan Thurber and
Derek Heisey were the representatives for the Falcons in the 400m. Thurber recorded an impressive performance, placing 17th overall with a mark of 56.61s. Heisey placed 16th overall, earning a mark of 54.61s.
800m
Amongst a strong field of competition, the Falcons had four runners compete in the 800m.
Nathan Kimmel led the way for the Falcons, earning a time of 2:01.92 for a seventh place finish out of a field of 61 total runners.
Cassidy Hoffman (2:03.58) registered an 11th-place finish as
Connor Daudt (2:03.83) and
Adam Hostetler (2:08.70) recorded impressive times.
1-Mile
Noah Calisti paced the Falcons in the 1-mile, recording a team-best time of 4:32.03. Calisti, placed fourth out of 49 total runners as Silas Buckwater and
Josh Bauman earned top-15 finishes. Buckwater, crossing the line in 4:38.49, came in 12th as Bauman recorded a 13th-place finish with a time of 4:39.42. Bauman's time topped his previous personal-best mark of 4:37.98 which he earned last week at The Armory.
Also competing for Messiah in the 1-mile was
Ray Truex, recording a time of 4:55.00.
3000m
Messiah had a strong showing in the 3000m, registering three runners in the top-10.
Josiah Moyer (8:54.51) placed third,
Kyle Costello (9:00.65) placed fourth, and
Josiah McCarthy (9:06.65) placed seventh. Additionally,
Matt Higgs issued a 12th-place finish, recording a time of 9:24.95.
5000m
Horst led the way for the Falcons in the 5000m, earning a second-place finish with a time of 14:57.86. Horst's time was the best mark on the team as
Andrew Hutchinson turned in a quality time as well, crossing the line in 15:29.67. Hutchinson shattered his previous 5000m mark of 15:40.82 from the Mini Dip Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. two weeks ago. Also competing for the Falcons in the 5000m were
Xander Smith (16:43.39),
James Sahakian (17:26.50), and
Jonathan Wyrick (17:56.30). Smith, who earned a top-20 finish out of 36 runners, topped his previous best mark of 16:56.24.
4x200m Relay
A team of Provan, Heisey, Wilkinson, and J. Horst recorded a top finish out of six teams in the 4x200m relay. The team recorded a winning time of 1:36.09, topping all competition in the second heat of the event and earning the fastest mark overall.
4x800m Relay
Messiah competed in strong fashion in the 4x800m relay. The Falcons fielded two teams as they each placed second and first. The first-place team, Team A, finished with a top time of 8:29.50 and consisted of
Josh Bauman,
Josiah Moyer,
Connor Daudt, and
Nathan Kimmel. Team B consisted of
Ryan McAllister,
Aidan Pryor,
Jackson Hazen, and
Derek Guissanie, crossing the line in 9:31.99.
Team A splits: Bauman (2:10.58), Moyer (2:04.60), Daudt (2:05.93), Kimmel (2:08.40)

Triple Jump
Brendan Provan recorded a third-place finish in the triple jump, achieving a mark of 13.62m.
John Steele had a strong performance for the Falcons as well, leaping to a distance of 13.16m, placing fifth overall out of 20 jumpers.
Noah Keitel also competed for Messiah in the event, registering a mark of 12.31m.
Long Jump
Landon Kerr and
Noah Keitel each represented Messiah in the long jump event, competing in a field of 29 jumpers. Kerr placed 19th overall with a mark of 5.94m as Keitel leapt to a distance of 5.01m.
High Jump
Messiah had four jumpers record impressive results in the high jump as
Derek Heisey (1.89m),
Gavin Dunkerton (1.79m),
Matthew Puleo (1.74m) and
Andrew Schott (1.74m) all competed for the Falcons. Heisey's mark earned him third-place overall out of 23 total jumpers as Dunkerton placed 11th, Schott placed 15th, and Puleo placed 17th.
Heisey was just off the mark from his height last week, a height of 1.90m at the NYC Armory DIII Invitational.
Weight Throw
Hoyt Lechthaler was the lone Falcon competing in the weight throw, registering a mark of 9.55m. Lechthaler competed in a competitive field of 35 throwers, falling just short of his previous mark of 9.57m which he earned last week at the DIII Invitational in New York, N. Y.
