HILTON HEAD, SC - The Messiah men's tennis team took down Penn State Behrend to earn an opening week win in Hilton Head late Monday night. The Falcons won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 early lead and went on to win five of the singles matches to win 7-2.

Josh Gingerich each took command early in their doubles matches and both won by scores of 8-3.

Ellis Martin lost a hard fought match at No. 2 and fell short in a tiebreaker 7-8(2). The Falcons led 2-1 after doubles.
Singles
Wilson played well in his match at but fell short 2-6, 4-6 at the No. 1 position. Messiah would win the rest of the singles matches to claim the match win on the night. Rose won 7-5, 6-0 in his match at No. 2 and at No. 3, Sell won convincingly 6-1, 6-2. Baker found himself in another tiebreak in singles but prevailed 6-1, 5-7, (10-5) at the No. 4 position. Gingerich and Martin closed it out at No. 5 & 6 winning 6-1, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-2 respectively.
