GRANTHAM, PA - On Educator Appreciation Day, the Messiah women's tennis team came out strong and dominated the doubles on route to a 3-0 start. Their success carried over in singles by winning four of six courts in a convincing 7-2 against conference opponent Stevenson.
Doubles
As previously noted, the Falcons came out strong in doubles, only dropping three total games across three courts. Conjack/Tozzi won 8-2 on court one, Marcroft/Sheaffer won 8-1 on court two and Murray/Fleming swept court three 8-0. The Falcons took a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Singles
That success in doubles carried over to the singles courts, where the Falcons picked up four courts on the afternoon.
Rachel Marcroft won convincingly on court two 6-0, 6-2 and
Hannah Olson won 6-2, 6-1on court six to clinch the match outcome.
Kasi Conjack would fall short on court one 5-7, 4-6 before the remaining three matches would all go into a deciding third set 10-point tiebreak.
Angela Tozzi prevailed in her tiebreak after dropping the first set and winning the second set to force the said tiebreak, winning 3-6, 6-3, (10-7).
Hannah Murray on court five forced a 10-point tiebreak after dropping the first set as well, but fell short 4-6, 6-2, (7-10).
Nicole Lee was the final court to finish in her 10-point tiebreak, prevailing 3-6, 6-2, (10-7).
Messiah would win the match 7-2.

The win brings the Falcons record to 4-8 and 2-1 in the conference. They will take the weekend off and travel to Hood College for another conference matchup on April 19, in Frederick, Md. That match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
