YORK, PA. - Messiah men's lacrosse was able to hang with York College in the first half, but got out-scored 13-2 in the second half in a 22-7 loss to the Spartans this evening. Owen Joyce had two goals for Messiah. 

Messiah will host LVC on April 23 at 2:00 PM in Grantham, Pa. 

First Half
The Falcons got on the board first with an RJ Mellor goal less than five minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Spartans would answer with four straight goals before Messiah scored again with an Aaron Shaw goal with two and half minutes to go in the first quarter. Seth Libby scored the third goal for Messiah with six seconds left in the first quarter to cut the deficit to 4-3 going into the second quarter.

Owen Joyce tied the game at 4-4 early in the second, then again Joyce tied the game at 5-5 with eight minutes to go in the half. It was all York from that point on in the quarter, with the Spartans scoring four straight goals to take a 9-5 lead into the half.

Second Half
The Spartans would take over the second half, out-scoring Messiah 13-2 to end the game with a 22-7 win. Sam Stone and Ricky Pokrivka were the two goal scorers for the Falcons in the second half, both coming in the third quarter. 

Stats
Owen Joyce led the Falcons with two goals while Shaw, Libby, Mellor, Stone and Pokrivka each had one goal. Libby also contributed with two assists on the night. Ryan Fascetta led Messiah in ground balls with five. 

York won 23 face-offs on the night to Messiah's eight, while York's 44 ground balls were more than Messiah's 28.

The loss drops the Falcons record to 6-8 and their conference mark to 2-3. They will host LVC on April 23 at 2:00 PM in Grantham, Pa.
