ST. DAVID'S, PA - The Messiah women's tennis team swept Eastern this afternoon 9-0. The Falcons were dominant, not dropping a single game in seven of the nine matches. They will travel to LVC for the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals on Tuesday May 3.Â
Doubles
Messiah swept the doubles courts, dropping only one game combined in the three matches. Conjack/Tozzi won 8-1 while Marcroft/Sheaffer and Murray/Fleming each won 8-0 to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
Singles
That dominance carried over in singles with the Falcons sweeping singles play as well. Conjack won her match on court one in a ten point third set tiebreak 5-7, 6-2, 10-8. Messiah won convincingly on courts two through six, not losing a single game in 6-0, 6-0 wins across the board. Marcroft, Tozzi, Lee, Fleming and Olson each won their matches without dropping any games on the afternoon.Â

The win brings the Falcons record to 6-11 on the year and gives them a 4-3 conference record on the year. That conference mark has earned them the fourth seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament set to be played on Tuesday May 3, at a time to be determined. Messiah has a date with Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa to play against the number one seeded Flying Dutchmen.Â
