ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Messiah women's basketball team earned a 61-42 victory over the Eastern Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Messiah outscored the Eagles by 21 points in the final three quarters after trailing 14-12 after the opening quarter.
Morgan Adams led the Falcons with 15 points on the afternoon while
Chloe Milanesi and
Reese Harden joined her in double-digits with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
With the victory, Messiah moves to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The Falcons will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Alvernia Golden Wolves at 8:00 p.m. on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena.
How It Happened
Messiah opened the first five minutes of Saturday's game with a quick 9-1 run to open up an eight-point lead. The lead quickly evaporated after the Eagles put together their best stretch of the game with a 13-2 run over the next four minutes. That Eastern burst made it a 14-11 lead for the Eagles.
Morgan Adams knocked down a free throw at the end of the quarter, but the Eagles held a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Messiah put on a much stronger performance in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 17-6 in the period. The Falcons shot 8-12 in the quarter with
Morgan Adams leading the way with six points in the period. The stronger period helped the Falcons to a nine-point, 29-20 lead at the half.
The lead continued to extend in the second half for the Falcons. Messiah outscored the Eagles 20-12 in the period while
Chloe Milanesi and
Amber High combining for 12 points in the 10-minute period. The result was a 49-32 lead heading into the fourth.
Messiah grew their lead to as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter as they cruised to a 61-42 victory.

With the victory, Messiah earns their ninth-straight victory and their 12th of the season. Overall, the Falcons at 12-2 on the year and 5-0 in the MAC Commonwealth. Messiah will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Alvernia Golden Wolves at 8:00 p.m.
