READING, Pa - The Messiah women's volleyball team traveled to Reading Pa, for a conference matchup with the Alvernia Golden Wolves. In this match, it would be the Falcons completing the (25-23, 25-12, 25-15) 3-0 match victory.
The Falcons will be back home Friday Oct. 6 against Shenandoah University.
How It Happened
The Golden Wolves got out early, to a quick 3-0 lead. However, the Falcons would remain calm to tie the game at six a piece. Messiah would go on to score five out of the next six points to take a 11-7 lead. Chayney Barnhart, Cassidy Dell, Emma Swartz, and Katie Quesenberry all scored for the Falcons. Alvernia would manage to fight back and knot the game at 11, however it would be another Messiah run to extend their lead to 16-13. Both teams would exchange points late, finding themselves tied at 20-20. The Golden Wolves managed to take a hold of a 22-20 lead. However, Mackenzie Feights three kills, and individual kills from Sarah Hart, and Anna Weldon would propel the Falcons to a 25-23 set one victory.
To begin the second set both teams would exchange points, with a Feight kill tying the game at 4-4. The Golden Wolves went on a three-point run, however, Messiah did not go away, tying the set at 8-8. From that point on, the Falcons continued to dominate the remainder of the match. Messiah would score17 out of the next 23 points to take set two 25-12. Feight and Hart led the way for the Falcons, each scoring multiple points to take the 2-0 match advantage.
Entering the third set, the Golden Wolves came out strong. Alvernia grabbed a 10-7 lead entering the midway point of the set. However, the Falcons would go on another big run with the game tied at 10, Messiah would score five out of the next six points to take a 16-11 lead. The Falcons did not look back following a Golden Wolves timeout, continuing to extend their lead to as large as nine. With the score sitting at 21-12, two Alvernia errors, a service ace from Emma Swartz, and a Barnhart kill would be the dagger as the Falcons complete the 3-0 sweep. Winning the set 25-12, Messiah improves to 12-5 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.

The Falcons will be back in action Friday Oct. 6 to take on the Shenandoah Hornets at home. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
